Copy Table

With this function you can copy a table including all data and then modify the copy. In this way, new standard parts of the same type can be derived from existing standard parts. For example, you can quickly derive tables for bolts/nuts of a similar DIN from an existing table of bolts or nuts of a specific DIN.

Standard parts created in this way behave essentially in the same way as the standard parts in the original table. For example, they can be inserted with the same function and their display can be switched in the same way.

For example, if the output table is a table with screws, then the copy is also a table with screws.

The copies of tables are always stored in the Factory standards catalogue.

 

Proceed as follows:

  1. Select the table you want to copy, for example, the Fasteners > Bolts+Screws> Fitting screws > ISO 7379 table.
  2. Call the Copy table function - either via Tools > Table in the menu bar or via the context menu of the table.
  3. The New table for HiCAD catalogue dialogue window is displayed.

 

Parameter

Here you select the catalogue in which the copy of the table is to be displayed when selected in the Catalogue Editor and also in HiCAD. This depends on the standard part type of the output table.

If, for example, you have selected the table DIN 7379 in the catalogue Fasteners > Bolts+Screws> Fitting screws, the copy can only be displayed under User-defined fasteners > User-defined bolts+screws and its sub-folders.

  • In the list box, select what the table is to be linked to, e.g. Thread. The Catalogue Editor then automatically displays a list of thread tables.
  • Select the desired table and exit the selection window with OK. The name of the selected table is displayed in the input field.

  • Select the desired table and exit the selection window with OK. The name of the selected table is displayed in the input field . The dependency is marked green.
  1. Once you have entered the required data, click OKOK.
  2. A copy of the selected table is created. Assume you entered the following data in the dialogue window:

After clicking on OK, a copy of the table file ISO_7379.IPT (HiCAD Directory KATALOGE > VERBINDUNGSELEMENTE) is created with transfer of all data. The copy is saved under the name EXAMPLE.IPT in the HiCAD directory KATALOGE > WERKSNORMEN. Also, a .KRA file with the name Example.KRA will be created there.

In the Catalogue Editor and in HiCAD you will find the copy at Factory standards > User-deined bolts+screws.

Please note the following when working with table copies:
KRA files created when copying tables are not saved in the HiCAD drawing. This means that if you pass the table copy on to a third party, you must also take the corresponding KRA file into account. If a drawing containing standard parts from this table is loaded in HiCAD and the KRA file does not exist, these standard parts cannot be edited with the functions for standard parts. For example, it is not possible to change the display. In this case, corresponding messages are displayed.
