Notes on PDF Previews
PDF preview in HELiOS Desktop
Please note that the PDF preview in HELiOS Desktop no longer works with Acrobat Reader DC as of Version 2021.011.20039.
As an alternative, we recommend Sumatra PDF (64-bit and the non-portable version) for HELiOS from Version 2702.3, 2800.3 and 2801.0. Before you install it, you need to uninstall all PDF Readers. During installation, click on Options (bottom left) and choose Install for all users and Let Windows show previews of PDF documents. You may also need to modify the hel_preview.ini configuration file if Acrobat Reader is explicitly defined there for PDF preview.
If an update to a new HELiOS version is to be avoided, Foxit Reader (up to max. Version 11) can be used.
Configuration file hel_preview.ini
You may have to adjust the configuration file hel_preview.ini if Acrobat Reader was explicitly defined there for PDF preview. This entry must be removed.

You do not necessarily have to assign the alternative PDF reader in the configuration file. If it is installed and set as the default application for this file format in your Windows system, HELiOS will also use it accordingly.
