New Library
P+ID Library > File > New
This function enables you to create symbol libraries or title block libraries.
After invoking the function, select Create new drawing and Start mode: Flow charts, P+ID in the Start Centre.HiCAD then displays a selection box on your screen.
Please note:
When HiCAD needs to restart after an abnormal program termination (e.g. via Task Manager) or a program crash, and switches to the P+ID module, the following
Select No to cancel your work on the data from your working directory. The working directory will then be deleted.
If you select Yes, HiCAD will attempt to load the data from the working directory for further processing. This will happen upon selection of one of the following functions: New project, Load project, (if the work on a project was interrupted), New library, Load library (if the work on a library was interrupted).
Symbol library
P+ID Library > File > New > Symbol library
Use this function to create a new symbol library. This is necessary if all symbols required for your application are not contained in the libraries supplied with your package. Please do not attempt to add symbols to an ISD library but create a new one.
To create a new library, proceed as follows:
- HiCAD generates the name of a new library automatically.
- You need to enter a comment, i.e. a description of the library that will later appear in Library lists. A new symbol library is then created in the Library directory (...\PID\LIB) under the generated name. A frame, enabling you to position symbol groups, appears on your screen. This frame and the associated title block are loaded from the Title Block library (e.g. ISDFRAMES_GER, symbol "SFDINB"). The name of the library plus comment is automatically entered in the title block.
- As each library must contain at least one symbol group, you now need to specify the name of a symbol group. After the group name is taken over, a rectangular frame can be specified to represent the boundary of the symbol group. This frame should coincide with the boundary of the area and the line-grid. The frame can be created by selecting a suitable point option for the specification of rectangle co-ordinates. The name of the group is then inserted in the frame. Symbols belonging to the group will be subsequently displayed in this frame.
- You can now either create more groups or exit the function with the middle mouse button. (Please remember that further groups cannot be created retro-actively.)

When creating a new symbol library, a drawing frame is loaded from the title block library. The frame entered in the active configuration file will be used (if there are several frames, the first one will be used).
Title block library
P+ID Library > File > New > Title block library
This option enables you to create a new title block library. A title block library contains the drawing frames and title blocks required for the given sheet format, place holders rep-resent automatically inserted text in title blocks. The title block libraries ISDFRAMES_GER and ISDFRAMES_ENG are supplied with your package, you only need to create a new library if the drawing frames contained in these libraries are unsuitable for your application.
When you create a title block library, please note the following:
The library must be structured in the same way as the ISDFRAMES_ENG library, i.e. it contains a single group with the name SFELDER; this in turn contains the equivalent form symbols under the same name (SFDINA0, SFDINA1, SFDINA2, SFDINA3, SFDINA4H, SFDINA4Q). The symbol SFDINB is the drawing frame for symbol libraries. The procedure used to create a title block library is largely the same as for the creation of a symbol library. The grid lines are however unnecessary for title block libraries and should be deleted.
