Bills of Materials in HiCAD
To create a Bill of Materials (BOM) in HiCAD based on a drawing or an assembly, all parts to be output need to be BOM-relevant. In HiCAD there are two methods of identifying parts as BOM-relevant:
- Assign article master data to the part. The part will then be automatically recognised as BOM-relevant. Please note that this is only possible if you have also installed the PDM system HELiOS.
- You can change the BOM relevance in the attribute mask via the function Attributes of the part. Alternatively, the BOM relevance can be set directly via the context menu of the part, then Properties. In this way, a multiple selection can also be set BOM-relevant. This is also possible without HELiOS.
In HiCAD you can specify the parts you want to output using the function
BOM Settings function (Drawing > Itemisation/Detailing > BOM
> ...) and the functions enabling you
to specify the scope of BOM output. These functions enable you
to set appropriate constraints for BOM output.
You can create BOMs for a drawing or an active part. The relevant functions, BOM for drawing and BOMs for active part+sub parts can be found at Drawing > BOM as well as in the context menus for parts or the context menu of the ICN. Depending on current BOM settings, HiCAD collects the appropriate information and automatically displays it in the old Report Manager or in the new ISD REport Manager as of Version 2023.
Please note:
- When creating BOMs in HiCAD, a NAME.RM3 file will be created in the current drawing directory. NAME denotes - depending on the selected BOM creation option - the name of the drawing or the selected part. If your drawing contains 2-D parts, an additional NAME.RM2 file will be created.
- BOM files can be edited retroactively in the Report Manager. Start the Report Manager externally and open the RM3 file. The relevant 2-D information will be automatically loaded.
- In the Structure List according to DIN, the "Quantity" value output for an item must be multiplied with the number of main assemblies, i.e. this also means that all fields multiplied with "Quantity" (e.g. total weight / surface) will respect this convention.
- In the InitRepMan.dat file in the directory C:\USERS\NAME\APPDATA\ROAMING\ISD SOFTWARE UND SYSTEME\REPORTMANAGER you can specify whether the "Quantity" of an item is to be calculated according to HiCAD2
methodology or according to DIN, i.e. multiplied with the
quantity values of main assemblies. Default setting is the calculation
according to DIN.
In the new ISD Report Manager this can be conveniently set via the Options.
