Create Main Parts and Sub-Parts
Create main part
To create a new 2-D main part, proceed as follows:
- On the 2-D Part tab, select New > New main part
.
- Enter the part name.
- Create the part using the functions of the 2-D Geometry tab.
To create a 3-D main part, proceed as follows:
- Activate the 3D-Standard tab and select the required function from the New function group.
- Follow the instructions of the function dialogue.
Please note:
- For sketches, use the functions of the Sketch tab.
- Alternative function calls:
- Right-click the drawing surface and choose the desired function in the Drawing context menu.
- In the ICN, right-click the drawing name or the part name and choose the desired function in the context menu.
- In Object snap mode, right-click a 2-D/3-D part in the drawing and activate the desired function in the 2-D Part or 3-D Part context menu.
Create sub-part
To create a new 2-D sub-part, proceed as follows:
- Activate the part to which you want to assign a new sub-part.
- In the New function group of the 2-D Part tab, click
below Part
, and select New sub-part
.
- Enter the part name.
- Create the part using the functions of the 2-D Geometry tab.
Alternatively, you can also use the context menu for 2-D Parts.
To create a new 3-D sub-part, proceed as follows:
- Activate the part to which you want to assign the new sub-part.
- In the New function group of the 3-D Standard tab, click
below the desired function and select the sub-part.
Alternatively, you can also use the functions provided by the context menu for 3-D parts in the ICN.
