Save Part
Drawing > Save/Reference > Reference part, Save, Detail drawing
You can choose whether to save parts as a FGA file or a detail drawing or even with part master and document master. You save the active part with the Reference part, Save, Detail drawing function in the Reference function group on the Drawing tab.
- 2-D part (*.FGA) or
- 2-D part (*.FGA) with catalogue entry
- detail drawing (*.SZA).
Activate the 2-D part, then call the function. The selection menu appears.
- First activate the file type (2-D part as FGA or single part as drawing) and then Save, without database.
Saving to the database is possible if you use HELiOS. Depending on the option you choose, the window for entering the article master/document master data is displayed. Only saving without a database is described here.
- Choose Next to close the menu.
- Now enter the name of the part and then choose Save to end the function.
On the 2-D Part tab, choose New > Main part, from active drawing function to load the part again.
This function can also be activated via the context menu.
Save part with catalogue entry
The part is saved as a FGA file and simultaneously assigned to a catalogue. On the Drawing tab, you can also choose Insert Part > Insert part, via Standard Parts catalogue option to insert parts with catalogue entry in any drawing you require.
- First select the folder to which you want to save the part or create a new folder.
Note here that parts with catalogue entry are saved in the FACTORY STANDARDS catalogue or a sub-folder.
- Then select the table to which you want the part to be assigned.
HiCAD displays a list of existing tables.
- Select the table you want, and press OK to exit the selection.
Parts saved with catalogue entry are assigned to a particular
table in the FACTORY STANDARDS/PARTS catalogue. Once HiCAD has been installed,
EXAMPLE TAB-1 is predefined as the table. You use the catalogue editor
CATEDITOR to create new catalogues and tables.
Status
Each part can have a certain status in terms of its availability assigned to it. This status affects the insertion of parts using the Insert part, via Standard Parts catalogue function. The following statuses are possible:
- Not available: The record is greyed out in HiCAD and cannot be selected.
- Main series: These records have first priority during insertion into HiCAD.
- Subsidiary series: These records have second priority during insertion into HiCAD.
BZ
Here, you enter the name that you want to use to select the part in the catalogue. The name is displayed in the selection table of the Insert part, via Standard Parts catalogue function.
Description
Enter the description that you want to copy to the Description field of the part attributes if the part is inserted via the catalogue.
Name
Enter the name under which you want the part to be saved, e.g.. MY STANDARDS/003_9879.FGA.
TYPE
When saving parts with catalogue entry, you can assign a type to the part. This type is taken into account when parts are inserted via the standard part catalogue.
- Fixed 2-D/3-D part: You only need to specify the fitting point during fitting.
- 2-D part/3-D sketch with selection of fitting type: In addition to specifying the fitting point, you need to choose the fitting type (e.g. Rotate or Move).
- Variant with variable prompt: If a part contains variables instead of fixed sizes, HiCAD prompts for these variables when the part is fitted.
- Standard variant: The part is fitted as a standard variant.
ICON
If, when saving the part, you want an EMF file to be automatically created as a preview image for the catalogue editor, then enter the name of the preview image here. When you exit the window, a control prompt will then be displayed, asking whether you really want the preview image to be created. The preview images created with this function are stored in the HiCAD subdirectory CATALOGUES/FACTORY STANDARDS/IMAGE. Please note that shaded parts cannot be saved as an EMF file!
DOKU..ID/BAUTEIL..ID
For parts that are managed in the HELiOS database, the system automatically enters the following:
- DOKUKOPFID and DOKUREVID (for document masters)
- BAUTEILKOPFID and BAUTEILREVID (for article masters).
These fields are blocked and are used by the HELiOS vault server.
- If you have entered all the data, click OK to exit the window .
- If you want a preview image to be created, choose Yes to confirm the control prompt.
Parts are only saved as a FGA file (etc.) if they have
not yet been entered in the HELiOS database. If you insert parts via factory
standard catalogues, the corresponding FGA files etc. must exist. Back
up the folder FACTORY STANDARDS regularly. If you want to forward the
factory standard catalogues to other users, you must also supply the FGA
files etc.!
