Functions for the Active Document: General

In the context menu of a document, as well as on the Ribbon of the detail window you can find the General function group. it contains functions that enable you to view, process and edit document master data and the files that belong to the HELiOS document.

When you choose this function, the current document is preselected in the clipboard for later linking to another, or for pasting into a linked application, for example. First select Preselect document in the context menu or in the detail window to register it to the clipboard.

With a right click on another document you will find in the context menu the Links function and its sub-functions Link preselected object as source class... and Link preselected object as target class..... In both cases, the Link class selection dialogue window will be displayed.

Documents can be linked to an article in the same way (and vice versa). The dialogue window for selecting the link class follows at this point as well.

If you try to link the document as source class to an article, you may get a message that no corresponding link class can be found, because none is defined in the HELiOS delivery standard. Of course, you can define your own link classes for this purpose.

In the context menu of Projects or Folders you can assign the document to a project or folder via Create assignment > Assign preselected object.

A preselected object can be assigned multiple times after it has been preselected and remains preselected in HELiOS's clipboard until another object has been preselected.

The linking of selected objects does not work across applications, i.e. it is not possible to select objects in HELiOS Desktop and link them in a linked CAD application, but only to select and assign them within the same application.

The Windows setting, which you can also set manually for file types with regard to the opening application, applies here: If, for example, STEP files have been assigned HiCAD as the opening standard application, then STEP files that are called up from HELiOS via Open + Edit are loaded accordingly in HiCAD for editing.

The Open, with options function provides file-type-specific options that you can take into account when opening a document.

Create mark-up: This function enables you to add correction remarks and modification suggestions to a document without changing the original. See also Mark-Up and Redlining.

Reject mark-up: Use this function to identify a mark-up document as rejected.

Accept mark-up: Use this function to accept the mark-up document, e.g. after its revision.
