Create Symbol File in Another Language

P+ID Library > Change language > Change language of graphic texts

You can use this function to automatically translate texts (e.g. symbol texts) from the active library. The prerequisite is that the texts are contained in the HiCAD dictionary. After activating the function, select the source language and the target language and click OK. The text contained in the dictionary will then be translated.

A practical example:

Let us assume you want to create from the symbol file DINSYMA_GER.SZA containing German symbol texts a symbol file DINSYMA_JAP.SZA with Japanese texts. Proceed as follows:

  1. Load the symbol file DINSYMA_GER SZA and use the Save file as ... function to create a copy of the file with the name DINSYMA_JAP.SZA.
  2. Change the text parameters for the dialogue texts. Use the Edit graphic text > Text parameter settings function to change the font to enable the display of Japanese texts.
  3. Now execute the Update text parameters function and click Save library.
  4. In the Unicode text file ...\PID\WORK\[Number of drawing thumbnail]\TMPLIB\DINSYMA_JAP.ETZ.TXT, replace the German texts by the corresponding Japanese texts.

Never change the names of the symbols or the symbol groups!

  1. Now execute the Edit graphic text > Re-load from file function.
  2. Save the symbol library.

Before executing the above steps, replace the Unicode file fldlgcode.txt (in the folder of the corresponding attribute and dialogue type definitions, e.g. …\PID\Libs\AttDef\ISDAttDef_jap) by a version with texts in the target language to ensure that in the graphic of the symbol library, the names of dialogue text placeholders appear in the required language, too.
