Update - Procedure for the modules Plant Engineering and Pipeline Planning
If you have already used the modules of a HiCAD version older than 2022, proceed as follows:
1. Backup
Make a backup of the current state of your database. In the file FILEGRUP.DAT in the exe directory of the existing old HiCAD version, check the entry located under 6:. The entry specifies the part directory for HiCAD Plant Engineering. This can be the local PlantParts directory of your HiCAD installation (e.g. 6:C:\hicad\PlantParts) or a server directory, e.g. 6:\\MyServer\hicad\PlantParts.
- If the Server directory has been entered here, make a backup of this Server directory.
- If the local directory has been entered here, make a backup of this local PlantParts directory.
2. Installation
Perform the HiCAD Update Installation. Please do not start the programs yet.
3. Realise required database state (only for Plant Engineering!)
- Start the DbPlantDataImport.exe program. Login as Administrator. Please note that you require all read and write permissions.
- Click on Update HELiOS for Plant Engineering.
- After completion of the process, close the program.
Part Variants
HiCAD currently offers more than 1000 part variants for Plant Engineering, which can be found in the PLANTPARTS sub-directory of your HiCAD installation. If you open a VAA file with the Variant Editor you will obtain extensive information about this variant.
Use the DbPlantDataImport.exe tool to import supplied (new) variants to your database if these are not yet contained in it.
Please first check whether these variants do not already exist in your database!
Please note:
- To transfer new variants to the HiC catalogue, use the tool VARTOCAT.EXE or the Part data synchronisation function.
- With the PLANTPARTSLIST.EXE tool you can generate a list of the current Plant Engineering variants - in German, English, French, Italian and Polish. The list is written to a CSV file, which you can then open and edit with Microsoft Excel.
