Create and Expand Pipe Classes
Create pipe class
Plant Engineering > Part Data Tools > VarEdit
> Create pipe class 
Select this function if you want to enter a new pipe class in the database.
The Pipe Class master data mask appears on your screen enabling you to specify data for the new pipe class. The pipe class number can be automatically generated if the appropriate specification exists in the GENUMMER.EXE program (in the .\hicad\exe directory).
This function is only available if the HELiOS Database has been set as part data source (see Plant Engineering Settings, Part selection).
Expand pipe class
Plant Engineering > Part Data Tools > VarEdit > Expand pipe class 
This function enables you to assign parts to a pipe class that already exists in the database. It does not matter whether or not parts have already been assigned to the pipe class. The following actions are always necessary:
- Open the HELiOS search mask for pipe classes and click Start search to call a list of pipe classes.
- First, select the pipe class that you want to process.
- On the Part assignments tab of the pipe class dialogue window, right-click a part to open a context menu offering several part processing options, e.g.:
- Show part
- Edit part
- Delete part
- Remove assignment ...
- Workflow
- Parts where-used list
- Specify link
- Show links
- Change
- Index Management
- Edit attribute value
- Right-click the empty row at the bottom of the pipe class dialogue to activate the Assign part function. This function enables you to insert new components.
This function is only available if the HELiOS Database has been set as part data source (see Plant Engineering Settings, Part selection).
