Referenced Parts
2-D Part > Referencing
You can use referencing to manage reused parts (identical parts). Referenced parts are changed across drawings and automatically identified during saving. You construct a part (e.g. a wheel) only once, and referencing enables you to use it again and again. If you change one of the identical parts, the others can be updated.
You can create referenced parts
- internally for the drawing or
- externally as a file across drawings.
You use the Clone function group to copy the internal parts. The clones and the original are referred to as a group.

Once you have defined the external part, you need to save it. The elements of the part are not automatically transferred when you save the drawing.
