Drawing > Itemisation/Detailing > BOM
A Bill of Materials (BOM) provides information about the parts that a product consists of, specifying the quantity, the description, the item and other information. This makes the BOM a central means of communication for all instances involved in the production process
In HiCAD, parts that are to appear in the BOM must be marked as BOM-relevant. This property is assigned automatically when Steel Engineering parts are inserted. If your construction also contains other parts, you will have to assign this property manually when using HiCAD without HELiOS. To do this, you use the Part attributes function in the Properties menu. However, if you are using the PDM system in conjunction with HELiOS, this property is assigned automatically when article master data is assigned.
The same functions and settings as for other 2-D and 3-D parts are available for BOM generation:

For beam and profile sections a section ID can be output in bills of materials (BOMs). For this purpose, the attributes
are available.
Output will be a string that designates the sections of beams or profiles, e.g.:
45° cutting angles (45° \--------|) are also shown in the View (Flange) column (Top view of cut). If you do not want this, open the Configuration Editor, go to Steel Engineering > Cutting angle and deactivate the Show 45° cutting angle in section schema checkbox.
To be able to use the IDs for for your BOMs you need to change the Report Manager settings accordingly, i.e. in the RMS-file used for BOM generations you need to add the columns:
Further information on the procedure can be found in the Help of the Report-Managers.
For Steel Engineering drawings you have the additional option to create weld seam test protocols, i.e. a reporting about the scope of the weld seam inspection.
The following functions are available for this purpose:
