Representation Functions (3-D)

Views > Representation

There are different representation options available for views. They range from the glass model to the hidden line representation, right through to the virtually photo-realistically shaded model.

(1) Glass model, (2) Hidden Line, (3) Hidden Line dashed, (4) Shaded with edges, (5) Shaded without edges

Shaded with edges

Displays the parts of the active view as shaded. The part edges are hidden. "Gouraud" is used as the shading method.

Clicking opens a menu with further representation functions:

Shaded + Hidden Line

Shades the parts of the active view. The visible edges are displayed. "Gouraud" is used as the shading method. If there is no setting of the shading parameters, material file M_HiCAD and Parallel Lighting from the front is assumed. The edges are displayed according to the currently set edge model parameters.

Apply shading setting of view

Applies the shading setting of any view to the active view. Identify the view the shading of which you would like to transfer.

All views, Glass model

Displays all views of the current drawing as a glass model. This is also the case for hidden views.

All views, Hidden Line

Selects the Hidden Line representation for all views of the current drawing, also for hidden views.

All views, Hidden Line dashed

Selects the Hidden Line dashed representation for all views of the current drawing, also for hidden views.

Mirror/Do not mirror panorama

HiCAD offers the option to simulate environments by assigning a panorama to the sheet or model area of your drawing. In this way you can simulate environments and mirror them on the surfaces of the 3-D model in shaded representation. To activate the mirroring of the environment, select Mirror panorama. To deactivate this effect, select Do not mirror panorama.

Exploded view

This function allows a largely automatic generation of exploded view drawings.

Glass Model

Sets all edges, also the hidden ones, to visible. It is called "glass model", because the setting is only realistic for transparent material. The image build-up speed is one advantage of this representation, as no visualisation calculations need to be performed.

Hidden Line

Hides hidden edges.

Hidden Line dashed

Displays hidden edges as dashed. The hidden edges of a body lying on level 40 (glass) are not considered here.

Shaded without edges

Fast, shaded representation with display of visible edges. The edges, except for free edges, are displayed according to the currently set edge model parameters.

Quick Hidden Line

Displays edges in the surface colour and hides hidden edges.

Quick Hidden Grey

Displays edges in the surface colour and hidden edges in grey.

Show only active view

Hides all views except the active one.

Show all views

Redisplays all hidden views.
