Inch Output Settings

If you work in HELiOS with the measurement units feet and inches, you can use extended display options for the output of corresponding (FLOAT) attributes with unit category.

If a column of the result list is an attribute for which inches or feet have been set as the Default unit for display, you have the option of calling up the Inch output settings from a context menu that you open by right-clicking on the header of the respective column:

You can choose between Decimal format (default), Fractional format and combined Decimal/fractional format in the dialogue window..

If you select one of the two display types that involve fractions, then you can manually enter the denominator of the fraction to be displayed in the input field next to Denominator.

In addition, under Behaviour with regard to the specified denominator, you can choose between:

If you work with the Decimal/fraction format, you can also set the Accuracy of the output Decimal places by entering a corresponding value.

In the following example excerpt the result list shows feet and inches in Decimal/fraction format with a Denominator of 16, which is truncated if necessary, and 2 Decimal places:

When outputting in feet, a mixed display in feet and inches will automatically be output when using the fractional format.
Example: A value of 6,125' is output as 6' -1½'' when using the Fractional format with a denominator of16.

Please note:

In the HELiOS Options, under General, you can also generally determine whether the Length display for inches and feet is output according to the American (in, ft) or British standard (",').
