The Attribute Editor - Manage Indices
The Manage indices function enables you to create indices and assign attributes to them.
The following entries are possible:
- Index
in DB
Speeds up the search in the database. You should not assign too many DB-indices, as this would slow down the search process. - Unique
The input of this attribute must be unique. This means that the entry of this data field can only be used once, e.g. every item number can only be given once. - Case
sensitive
The data field (attribute) differentiates between the use of capital and small letters.
To create a new index proceed as follows:
- Select the New index function.
- Specify a name for the index.
- If you require uniqueness for this data field, activate the checkbox unique.
- Use the text field to enter a description of the new index.
- Click OK to create the new index.
If you selected the option unique, you need to add an attribute to the index.
- Mark the index and click on Add attribute. An attribute selection list will be displayed.
- Select the attribute you want to be unique (unambiguous).
Now you can determine that the system will differentiate between the use of capital and small letters by clicking the Case sensitive button.
When you use the functions Change index, Delete index, Index in DB, Delete in DB, Add attribute, the index entry needs to be marked in the list.
