Project: HiCAD 2-D
If an angle needs to be entered to execute a function, the input field is displayed.
An angle is displayed as a default value which you can left-click to apply. If you want to use another value, enter the angle you require either as a decimal or in the form of degrees, minutes and seconds. The individual numerical values are separated by a space.
To preset the number of decimal places, right-click an empty space in the drawing area and select Properties > Decimal places for angles.
The angle can also be calculated by means of an arithmetic expression. You are allowed to enter a letter code, with the following 3 codes again being available:
The distance entered for a function is saved internally in HiCAD and can be reused for subsequent calls. Depending on the type of distance to be entered, there are 3 different last angles:
All last angles are preserved until such time as they are overwritten by new values.
If you have entered letter code Z, you can use the following functions to take the angle from the drawing.

In this function, you use the keyboard to enter the angle. |

Angle, 2 Lines |
This function enables you to take the angle between two graphical elements. To do this, you identify the elements you require. In circular arcs, this is the angle that the tangents enclose at the point of intersection. If the tangents do not intersect at a right angle, of the two possible angles, that angle which is less than 90° is taken The corresponding supplement angle can, however, be selected at the end. |
|
|
Central angle |
The central angle of a circular arc is applied here. |
|
|
Angle Line-Axis |
This function represents a special case, as the horizontal axis is taken as the second graphical element. In this case, by suitably identifying the graphical element, you will get an angle between 0 and 360 degrees. |
|
|
Angle 2 Points-Axis |
Here, you take an angle the first side of which is defined by 2 points and whose second side is the positive horizontal axis of the coordinate system. |
|
|
Angle 3 Points |
You use this option to take an angle defined by 3 points. Most functions do not define the calculated angle uniquely. For this reason, you can also select the negative angle, the negative direction or the supplement angle, in addition to the angle provided. Furthermore, you can increase or decrease the calculated angle by a right angle: |
This additional code is a special case of code z. You can use it to take angles from the drawing and multiply them by a factor. You can enter this factor together with letter code FA, separated by a space.
If you do not specify the factor, HiCAD asks you to enter it. If you enter FA in combination with one of the point options P or W, HiCAD always prompts for the factor separately.
To enable you to apply the angles, the distance menu is also displayed here. The angle is automatically multiplied by the factor entered.
