If you want to change the Type designation of the currently loaded record, simply overwrite the current entry in the Type designation entry field. The next time you select another record or save the variant, the following prompt appears on your screen: Recalculate selected value according to ? Respond with Yes.
Click the Generate button to generate new Type designations for all records. The Generate type designation dialogue box is displayed.

From record number |
Starting with 1, records are numbered in the sequence in which they are currently sorted in processing file. The Type designation is then created from these numbers. |

|
From variables |
The Type designation is created (without commas) from the respective value of variables - specified in the combination field. |
|
|
Add leading nulls |
Optionally, you can add leading nulls to the Type designation until it is reaches the highest necessary position number. This is advisable as it enables a logical sequence when sorted according to type designations. |
