Automatic Actions during Insertion

P+ID > Symbol > Load symbol

Inserting symbols may entail automatic actions, which depend on the selected symbol type and specific pre-set values:

General type

The code for symbol designation is automatically generated according to pre-set values.

General type, Pipe part

Pipe part, Reducer symbol

The default entry in the nominal diameter dialogue for a reducer symbol with 2 connections is represented by x, or by xx for 3 pipe connections and xxx for 4 connections. This indicates the number of nominal diameter values and a nominal diameter is given for each connection, e.g. "20x10" for 2 edited pipe connections. If a nominal diameter is determined for a reduction symbol inserted in a pipe connection, this value is taken over by ALL connections on the symbol:

Example: If a reducer symbol with 3 pipe connections is inserted on a pipe connection with a nominal diameter of 50, then the nominal diameter of the reducer symbol dialogue 50x50x50 is automatically entered.

x is entered in nominal diameter dialogue of the superior pipeline symbol to indicate that parts with different nominal diameters belong to the pipeline.

AutoConnection

If a symbol with connecting points is set on an existing connection, these connections are initially deleted and then, if possible, restored by the inserted symbol. If a pipe part symbol is inserted on a pipe connection, it is automatically assigned to the pipeline symbol to which the connection is attached - with the same effect of the assignment on the data mask as decribed above, for the direct connection.

Pipe part

If the Load symbol function is used to set the reference point of a Pipe part symbol on a pipe connection, it is (if required) automatically rotated into the correct direction.

KKS dialogue box

If identifiers according to KKS have been set, you can use the cross-hairs to specify the position of the text box in which the KKS designation text is automatically when the symbol is positioned. The required specifications are queried in the dialogue box that appears on your screen when the text box is positioned:

Symbols with names in the library that begin with a digit are handled as follows:
