Select Symbol via Name

P+ID > Symbol > Load symbol

You can select the required symbol name from a dialogue box with the following selection criteria:

• Direct entry of symbol name,
• Use search patterns and select via symbol list,
• Select via group list,
• Select via library list or
• Select via library list and group list.

Direct symbol name entry

If you know the complete name of a symbol, you can type it in the input field, and select OK to exit the window.

If the symbol should be subordinate to another symbol, identify the appropriate superior symbol, if not select ESC (middle mouse button). If you want to select an angle of rotation for the symbol, you can now press the right mouse button to display a pop-up menu with rotation options. Next, specify a fitting point to determine the position of the symbol.

Before determining the fitting point you may select a transformation option for the symbol. Right-click to activate the context menu with the transformation functions.

Search patterns and Symbol list

You can work with a search pattern, e.g. S* to find all symbols with names beginning with S.

Specify a search pattern and select the Symbol list button. Pick OK to exit the window

HiCAD displays an alphabetical list of all symbols with names matching the given search pattern. Please remember, HiCAD only recognises symbols belonging to imbedded libraries.

• Select via name
  You can either insert a symbol by double-clicking a symbol name or picking the required symbol name and selecting OK.
• Select via graphic
  Select the Graphics button to display a graphical preview of a symbol group and select a symbol via the graphic. To do this, you need to select a row in the symbol list and click the Graphics button to display an image of the symbol group belonging to the selected row. Select the required symbol and take it over by responding with Yes to the query.

Group list

Initially, HiCAD displays a list of groups in all integrated libraries. This alphabetical list is arranged with respect to libraries, and within a library according to groups.

You can either call a symbol list by double-clicking a group name or selecting the required group name and clicking OK. In this case, the list only contains symbols belonging to the selected group in alphabetical sequence.

Then determine the position of the symbol by specifying the fitting point.

Library list

This function creates an alphabetical list of all integrated libraries. If the library is managed with HELiOS, the document number (HEL_DOKUNUMMER attribute) from the document master of the P+ID project instead of the file name is to be found on the list.

You can either call a symbol list by double-clicking a library name or selecting the required library name and clicking OK. In this case, the list only contains symbols belonging to the selected library.

Then determine the position of the symbol by specifying the fitting point.

Library list and Group list

This function creates an alphabetical list of all integrated libraries is created. If the library is managed with HELiOS, the document number (HEL_DOKUNUMMER attribute) from the document master of the P+ID project instead of the file name is to be found on the list.
