Project: HiCAD P+ID

Edit Symbol Pop-Up Menu

P+ID > Settings > Process > Edit symbol pop-up menu

This function enables you to add your own symbols to pop-up menus selected from Load symbol selection list or modify them arbitrarily with the Editing functions (right-click on a button of the pop-up menu).

Add symbols to pop-up menu

Let us assume that you create a new dryer with the name T222, and Save it to symbol library and that you want to be able call the symbol from the Dryer pop-up menu when processing the P+ID, you need to take the following actions:

  1. Make sure that the symbol library containing the new symbol is integrated in the active project.
  2. Create a new P+ID sheet (this is required temporarily).
  3. Insert the symbol T222 with the help of its name on the new sheet:

If required, you can use 2-D functions to change the appearance of the symbol and create a more easy-to-understand icon, i.e. delete text, hide text or change the colour of lines.

  1. Next, call the Symbol pop-up menu function to show the symbol selection list.
  1. Click the required symbol category, in this case, Dryer, to show the appropriate pop-up menu.
  2. If we assume that you want to assign the symbol to the last button in the pop-up menu, simply click the button.

HiCAD then expects you to identify the appropriate symbol on the P+ID sheet. If an icon for the identified symbol is not available, displays an appropriate message.

  1. Respond to the query with Yes to assign the symbol.

If you have already inserted additional new symbols in the P+ID sheet, you can now assign them to free buttons. When you exit the pop-up menu with END, processing mode is automatically switched off.

If you do not want to assign any more symbols, you can now delete the temporary P+ID sheet.
