Project: HiCAD P+ID

Symbol and Title Block Libraries

P+ID symbols are managed in symbol libraries. Each symbol library can contain an optional number of named symbol groups and must contain a minimum of one group.

Title block libraries are special symbol libraries that contain style pages instead of P+ID symbols and frames. You can create your own libraries or expand or modify existing ones.

These libraries are saved to the ...\PID\LIBS sub-directory of the HiCAD directory with the file name extension .SZA. You can only process library files contained in this directory.

Library symbols need to be integrated in active project before they can be inserted on a P+ID drawing sheet. They can either be automatically linked to a project when it is created or retroactively with the appropriate function. When a library is merged with a project, HiCAD copies the appropriate library to the active project.

If you want to add symbols to a library already used in the active project, you need to:

  1. Generate a new symbol and insert it in the library (this only influences the original library)
  2. Remove the library with the corresponding name from the project
  3. Re-integrate the library in the project.
