Fix/Unfix
3-D Standard > HCM > Fix
You can fix individual geometries as well as complete parts. If a geometry or a part is fixed, it will not be moved during necessary transformations. The function for fixing (and subsequent unfixing) can be found in the HCM function group of the 3-D Standard tab. There you can find the following functions:
- Fix/Unfix sub-part fixes an entire sub-part or removes such a fixing.
- Fix/Unfix geometry fixes or unfixes only one geometry of a sub-part.
Proceed as follows:
- Select the desired function.
- Identify the part or the
geometry element to be fixed.
- If you have identified
an already fixed part/geometry, you will be asked whether yo would
like to remove the fixing.
- To remove the fixing,
choose the same function again, identify the part/geometry, and answer the security prompt with Yes.
Please note:
- A geometry may have internal degrees of freedom and is then regarded as
unbounded. For example, a fixed cylinder can rotate about its own axis
and also be moved along this axis. To fix a geometry so that no movement
at all is possible, use the Fix sub-part function.
- If you right-click Fixing in the HCM tab of the ICN, the extended context menu offers, besides the Delete function, a temporarily valid Deactivate function.
- In addition to being able to fix individual geometry
elements, you can also fix an entire part, including its sub-parts.
