Sketch Creation for Sub-structure

Element installations of the type Eternit EQUITONE Tergo are fixed according to defined technical specifications. This means that you normally first create an Element installation, for which you then define the Rivet distances given in the static specifications.

After this, a matching sub-structure as the basis for the panels must be created. This step can be greatly facilitated by the Sketch creation for sub-structure function.

Call the function in the Civil Engineering functions docking window, beneath Element installation. Then, choose the assembly of the element installation.

HiCAD will now automatically generate a sketch that can directly be used as a basis for the insertion of a matching sub-structure.

Process sketch

This sketch is parameterised: The line elements are bound to isolated points via Coincidence constraints, which are in turn bound to the installation elements. These points will also be moved in case of any changes to the element installation; also, when changes are applied to the installation, the sketch, which is also bound to these points, will be changed as well.

This concerns only the moving of these points. More fundamental changes to the sketch, such as the adding of new line elements for further sub-structure profiles, will not be carried out. In this case, delete the sketch and generate it again.

In the model drawing shown above the sketch was processed: The two lines in the middles were deleted and replaced with continuous lines. Then, a sub-structure was created from the sketch:

Even if you now change the element installation (here: significantly wider joints), the expected result after updating of the sub-structure will look like this:

The sub-structure elements have adjusted themselves to the slimmer elements; the user-defined profiles in the middle were preserved, but also have their start and end points adjusted.
