Project: HiCAD Sheet Metal

Sheet Corner with Stiffener

Civil Engineering functions > Sheet Metal > Sheet corner with stiffener or puzzle piece > Stiffener

Use this Design Variant to create a sheet corner with or without stiffener between 2 sheet flanges. The flanges can have different lengths and different bend angles.

When you call the function the following dialogue window will be displayed:

Proceed as follows:

  1. Identify the 2 sheet flanges (1) and (2), each at one of their longitudinal edges of the front surface.

If you want to identify a different flange, click the icon beneath General for its identification.

The connection will be applied to the last identified flange. If the flanges have different lengths, these will remain unchanged.

  1. Enter a Clearance (3) for the corner connection.
  2. Activate the Use stiffener checkbox if you want to create a riveted connection.
  3. Activate the Insert standard parts (rivets, screws etc.) checkbox if you want standard parts to be inserted. The checkbox is active by default. If you deactivate the checkbox, the standard parts will not be shown in the BOM.
  4. Choose a material for the stiffener.

If you select a semi-finished product here, the Thickness (4) of the sheet will be automatically entered here. The standard for semi-finished products can be taken from the Catalogue Editor with a click on the icon. With a double-click on the Sheet corner feature you can activate or deactivate the semi-finished product later.

  1. Select the riveted connection from the catalogue.

You can choose between SFS and Titgemeyer.

  1. Click OK to confirm your selections.

After entering all required data you can create the connection. Click Preview to check and, if required, modify the connection. If you click Apply, the sheet corner will be created, and the dialogue window remains open, allowing you to change the data or to switch to the Puzzle piece sub-variant. the data to other sheet corners. If you click OK,the connection will be created, and the window will be closed. Clicking Cancel closes the dialogue window and discards the data without creating the connection.

The settings on the dialogue window can be saved as favourites and re-used at any time. To do this, click on the symbol at the bottom left corner of the dialogue window. More on favourites management can be found in the Manage Favourites topic of the HiCAD Basics Help chapter.
