Part Selection Filter
Tipp:
With the function Search in the transparent toolbar, another search function is available that enables a filtering by various, user-defined search criteria. For example, you can search only for sheets of a particular material and with a thickness between 1 and 5. The filter settings can be saved, marked as Favourites, and re-used at any time.
Regardless of whether you identify 3-D parts in the drawing or in the ICN, you can restrict part selection by setting filters - both when selecting individual parts and defining part lists or selecting parts in a rectangle.
To use part filters, you first need to switch on the part selection filter:
- Press the CTRL key on the keyboard and hold it down.
- Point the cursor to a 3-D part in the ICN or in the drawing.
- Press the right mouse button to activate the context menu for part lists.
- Switch the Part selection filter ON. The Part Selection Filter window is displayed.
- Use the option fields under Select parts if ...when you want parts to be taken into account during selection via a rectangle:
- All
points in rectangle
If this option field is active, parts are only taken into account if all the relevant identification points lie in the rectangle. Identification points are the points specified at the top of the Part Selection Filter window. For example, a cuboid is only selected if all its corner points lie in the rectangle. - 1
point in rectangle
If this option is active, a part is selected if at least one of the identification points lies in the rectangle.
Exception: For Steel Engineering beams it will always suffice if the midpoint of the axis is located in the rectangle, regardless of the selected option.
- Under Part type, define whether you want only certain parts to be taken into account during selection, e.g. only steel engineering parts or only standard parts etc. To exclude part types from selection, deactivate the relevant checkbox. The All button activates all part types, while None deactivates them. If you want the filter settings to be taken into account in the next selection, activate the Use for next selection option.
Notes on the Part Filters:
- The filter settings are only taken into account for as long as the Part Selection Filter window is open. If you end the dialogue using the Close button, the filter settings that you have made there are then no longer active. The options for the rectangle selection are an exception to this rule. They are taken into account even after you close the window.
- Once you start HiCAD, all part types and points are taken into account in part selection - in the ICN or in the drawing
- If the dialogue for part selection filters is opened, the settings defined there are taken into account in the next selection in the ICN/in the drawing
- Parts which have already been selected, remain selected and are not affected by the new filter selections
- When you first call the part selection filters, all part types are generally activated, regardless of what was set in the last HiCAD session.
- During a HiCAD session, the values that were last set are always displayed when the dialogue is called.
- If you select all parts using CTRL+A in the ICN, the filter settings are not taken into account. This also applies if the Part Selection Filter window is open.
