Important Notes on Data Reduction

When using data reduction, please always remember the following:

Please also note the following restrictions:

Parts that are represented as reduced parts can only be processed in the drawing in a very limited way: Only the Transform and Clone functions can be applied to such parts. All other processing options are unavailable or only partly available. This also applies to the identification of points, edges and surfaces of reduced parts, drawing derivation, part attributes, dimensionings etc. Attempts to execute inadmissible functions will be rejected, and HiCAD will issue an appropriate message.

Dimensions of reduced parts are not associative. The associativity of dimensions will however be restored when converting the parts back to exact representation.

Reduced parts will only be displayed in the drawing if the representation modes Shaded with/without edges, Quick HiddenLine or Quick Hidden Grey have been selected. In all other cases, parts/assemblies that have been loaded as reduced parts/assemblies will not be displayed. Frozen views will however not be affected by this.

When you save a drawing, the representation of the parts/assemblies will also be saved. This means that all parts/assemblies that have been saved as reduced parts will still be represented as reduced parts when you load this drawing again.

When you load (or switch) a drawing, reduced referenced parts will retain their reduced representation after an automatic updating.

When you update reduced parts manually (e.g. with the Update active part, From filefunction, HiCAD issues the message Remove reduction? If you answer with Yes , the part will be displayed in exact representation and will be updated, i.e. HiCAD will not switch back to reduced representation. If you select No , the reduced representation will be retained.
