Holes and Subtractions

Holes

3-D Standard > New > Extruded > 2-D->3-D Conversion > Holes

Use this function to directly transfer hole contours from the 2-D views to the 3-D model.

  1. First identify the part of the 3-D model to which you want to transfer the holes.
  2. Select in the 2-D views all hole contours you want to transfer. The sequence of the selections can be chosen arbitrarily.
  3. Right-click to end the selection of the hole contours. The 3-D model will be adapted automatically.

Example: Blind Hole Thread

Subtractions

3-D Standard > New > Extruded > 2-D->3-D Conversion > Subtractions

The Subtractions function enables you to directly transfer subtraction contours from the 2-D views to the 3-D model.

  1. Identify the required 3-D part.
  2. Select, as you would do with the Holes function, the contours you want to transfer as subtraction contours with the same depth.
  3. Right-click to end the selection of subtraction contours.
  4. Identify a start edge and an end edge in one of the 2-D views in order to specify the depth of the subtraction.

The functions can only be executed if you have specified the Views in the 2-D model accordingly and if a 3-D model is available.
