Data Reduction
Today CAD models are becoming increasingly complex, which means that the required amount of data is also increasing. To enable a faster assembling of the individual components in such drawings, HiCAD offers the possibility of data reduction: If you activate the Open drawing, reduced option in the dialogue for the opening of drawing files, referenced 3-D parts/assemblies will be displayed as “reduced” elements, i.e. only the corresponding polygon model will be loaded, which reduces the amount of data. When working with large models, less memory will be required, which in turn leads to an increased performance.
The data reduction can either be applied immediately, i.e. when opening a drawing, or subsequently for individual parts or assemblies.
Important:
- Parts or assemblies that have been loaded as reduced elements can only be processed in a very limited way. They can still be transformed or cloned, but all other processing options are either unavailable or limited. This also applies to the identification of points, edges and surfaces of such parts/assemblies.
Please not that the functionality for data reduction should only be used for assembling purposes, but never for drawing creation.
- Please also note that drawings containing reduced parts will be loaded completely when they are printed/converted via the HiCAD Plot Manager (Drawing > Save/Print > List), i.e the reduced parts will be "unpacked" when being loaded.
Please note:
The Open drawing, reduced option in the dialogue for the opening of drawings was formerly called Open drawing, simplified.
