Further View Functions
Views > View Functions
You can hide and show complete views as well as parts of views in HiCAD. This allows a significant system performance increase during processing, especially for complex 3-D models. Furthermore, you can "freeze" views": In contrast to hidden views, frozen views remain visible on the screen, they can however not be processed. Please note that 3-D parts, 3-D texts or 3-D dimensionings cannot be selected in frozen views!
The View Functions group of the Views tab contains functions enabling you to show, hide and freeze views, as well as functions for the processing of linked views.

You can also hide views by first selecting the Views tab in the ICN, then right-clicking the required view and selecting the Hide function from the context menu. The name of the view is then displayed in the ICN with reduced colour intensity. In the same way, hidden views can be shown again.
If objects such as dimensionings, processing planes or parts are deleted from the drawing, these will still be displayed in frozen views. Only after unfreezing of these views will it become apparent which elements had been deleted since the freezing. Please pay particular attention to this when you delete all dimensions or all dimensions in a part (3-D Dimensioning + Text > Delete > Individual
> All in part or All).
Please note:
- Hide/Show edges
Select Views > Properties to hide or show individual edge and elements. For this you use the Show/hide elements in view function.
- Free edges
For the representation types Glass model, Quick Hidden Line, Quick Hidden Grey and Shaded with edges, HiCAD also displays free edges. These are edges which do not belong to any surface. Examples of this edge type are centre axes, crosshairs and free composite edges. Irrespective of the settings selected via Show/hide elements in view, these edges will always be shown for the above representation types.
- Hidden Line calculations
Please note that Hidden Line calculation for large drawings can be very time-consuming, owing to the extensive visualisation calculations that are required. Furthermore, Hidden Line calculation does not consider self-intersections.
