Fillet
3-D Standard > Process > Fillet
You can use this function to fillet edges and facets either constantly or variably. In the case of a constant fillet, the fillet radii are identical on all edge points. Variable fillets, in contrast, allow different fillet radii at the start and end points of an edge as well as on any intermediate points.
Once you have called the function, the Fillet dialogue window is displayed.
General Procedure
- Define the fillet options, e.g. the fillet type (constant or variable), the fillet path etc.
- In the drawing, select the edges or surfaces which you want to be filleted using the currently selected settings. If applicable, insert intermediate points for variable filleting.
- Repeat steps 1 to 2 for edges/surfaces that you want to be filleted using other radii or settings.
- All selected edges are displayed with the corresponding fillet settings in the list of objects to be filleted. You can also make subsequent changes to the settings of the selected edges in the list.
- If you want to check the fillets before transferring them to the drawing, activate the Preview button. HiCAD temporarily fillets the selected edges according to the fillet parameters that have been assigned to them. You can then edit the parameters in the object list.
- If you are working without a preview, use the Fillet or Execute buttons to start the fillet process. If you are working with a preview, use the Apply button instead of the Fillet button.
The Buttons
Preview |
This button activates or ends the preview. If the preview is activated, the Fillet button is replaced by the Apply button. |
Fillet |
All objects in the list are filleted. The list of objects to be filleted is deleted, but the Fillet window remains open. |
Execute |
All objects in the list are filleted. The list of objects to be filleted is deleted and the Fillet window is closed. |
Close |
The Fillet window is closed without taking the entries in the Fillet window into account. |
Apply |
All objects in the list are filleted. The list of objects to be filleted is deleted, but the Fillet window remains open. This button is only active if the preview has been activated. Instead of clicking Apply in the dialogue window, you can also press the middle mouse button (MMB) to apply the fillet. |
|
You can enlarge the window via the bottom right corner of the dialogue window. |
Notes:
- The part to be filleted must be a solid. The surfaces of the part must therefore enclose a volume.
- All identified edges must belong to the same part.
- You can fillet both edges and facets even if, for simplicity, we have mentioned only "edges".
- As long as you do not use the Execute or Close button to exit the Fillet window, you can fillet further edges using different fillet parameters.
- You can also select the Preview, Apply, Execute and Close options via a context menu, which you activate by right-clicking outside the Fillet window.
