Configuration: Local Session

HELiOS > Options

The Options function of the HELiOS menu opens a dialogue window which is subdivided into the following three areas:

• Settings for the Workspace
• Settings for the Document
• Attribute assignments

Settings for the Workspace

Beneath Local directory of documents: you can see the path of the local session directory.

To change the directory, click on the icon and choose a new directory.

If you have activated the Remove documents that are currently not being edited from Workspace after closing the application checkbox, all documents that are currently not in edited mode will be removed from the session when you close the program. Otherwise, the data will be preserved.

Use the Remove locally changed files checkbox to determine whether locally changed documents are to be removed from the Workspace when SOLIDWORKS is closed.

Settings for the Document

Behaviour when opening:

• Set to edited mode: If this checkbox is active when you open a document, the program will check whether the document has currently been locked against editing. If this is not the case, the document will now be set to "edited" mode (and will then be locked against editing by other users).
• Update components: If components of a document exist as newer versions, these will be updated to the newer states if this checkbox has been activated. This concerns both (file) changes of the corresponding components and the indexing by HELiOS, and takes effect upon opening and choosing Data > Apply server state. The updating takes place from top to bottom, i.e. sub-components with a newer server state will also be updated (in some cases after an explicit security prompt - see below) when the superordinate document has been replaced by a newer server state.
  If the article assignment to the document is not clear, the most recent article index will be applied for updating.
  
• Query before updating: If this checkbox is activated, a security prompt will be displayed before updating the document. If is deactivated, the updating will take place automatically, i.e. without a security prompt, when you open a document from the Workspace or choose Data > Apply server state (all).
• Do not update document again if it has already been loaded: If this checkbox is active, and the part to be opened has already been loaded together with a different opened document, no attribute synchronization will take place when the document to be re-loaded is opened. Please note the following:

• Attribute changes that took place in HELiOS in the meantime will only take effect after a complete loading of the component.
• If the corresponding part has already been loaded in a different document, but the sub-type is a different one (parts have been suppressed, a different representation configuration is used, a different method of index updating has been selected, or similar...), no attribute synchronization will be performed anyway.

Behaviour when closing:

• Automatic check-in for documents in edited mode: If this checkbox is active, documents that are currently being edited will be automatically checked in when you close them. The edits will be transferred to HELiOS.

Behaviour when saving:

• Automatically transfer product structure: You can activate or deactivate the automatic product structure sychronization when saving to HELiOS.

For instance, after an initial product structure transfer in connection with an ERP system data transfer it is sometimes preferable to allow only one manual synchronization.

Behaviour when transferring product structure:

• Insert user-defined semi-finished products from Content Center as sub-items: If this option has been activated, semi-finished product article masters (identified by the HELiOS Part type "Raw part+Plant-design") which are processed in SOLIDWORKS as derived parts/assemblies (Derived Component), will be transferred as sub-items to the HELiOS product structure.

Entered Semi-finished product sub-items will be marked as "BOM-relevent" in HELiOS.

If it is not possible to clearly assign a dependent part of the HELiOS Part type "Raw part+Plant-design" , no sub-item will be entered. The same applies to dependent parts of another Part type than "Raw part+Plant-design".

Behaviour when transferring product structure:

• Check whether the document needs to be saved first

This option, which is activated by default, checks when calling New in HELiOS or functions based on it, such as batch import, whether corresponding documents must be saved first.

Deactivation of the option could be conceivable, for example, if data to be transferred has already been released and can therefore no longer be changed or saved.

However, if the check is deactivated when transferring documents to HELiOS, it cannot be guaranteed that the documents are transferred to HELiOS correctly, e.g. if they have been changed after opening and have not been saved. When transferring documents, HELiOS always works with the content of the saved file. If you are not sure whether you should deactivate this option, please contact the Consulting of the ISD

Update components to newer indices:

• Never
• Always
• Not in released context

Behaviour when updating components to newer indices:

• Update to newest index
• Update to newest released index

Here you can define whether an updating of components to newer indices (if any) is generally to take place automatically (Always) or not (Never) upon closing of documents. According to a third option, an updating can generally take place, except for parts of already released components (Not in released context).

With the additional setting option Behaviour when updating models to newer indices (takes effect when Always or Not in released context has been set) you can specify whether a part is generally to be updated to the ...newest index irrespective of the Workflow status, or to the ...newest released index.

Attribute assignments

In this are you can find Settings for:

• Transfer to HELiOS...: Configuration dialogue for the assigning of attributes during import of CAD data to HELiOS.
• Export from HELiOS...: Configuration dialogue for the assigning of attributes during data export from HELiOS to the CAD system.
• Further...: Options and settings of the CAD interface for the initialisation of file extensions in the Workflow configuration.

Please note:

To synchronize the weight of attribute assignments, the SOLIDWORKS option System Options > Performance >Update mass properties while saving document must be activated.

The HELiOS interface checks this setting and activates it automatically if necessary.
