Project: Variant Editor

Convert Variant into Base Variant (VAD_Editor)

In order to make full use of base variant functionality, you need to consider the way in which the parts of a part should be arranged with regard to possible base variant structure, and the variables that should belong to respective items. If you want to be able to switch parts off with the Variant Editor, you should specify the variables (whose value should be set 0 when switched off) to which a condition should apply. This means that a variable must contain a specific condition that specifies that when the variable is XY = 0, then the part to which a part with this condition belongs is skipped in the drawing. This type of condition can, for instance, be inserted with Design Variants and Feature Variants.

When a variant is converted into a base variant, a base variant file is added to the existing variant files. They are given the same name as the original variant with the name extension .DAT.

Select Open and load the variant you want to convert, then click Structure.

Respond to the query "Do you want to convert the variant into a base variant?" with Yes. The following dialogue box appears on your screen.
