Automatic Actions

The editing of the symbol types

entails automatic actions, some of which are dependent of particular settings.

General Type

When you change the text entry for Plant code, Plant unit, Aggregate, Insertion location, Function or Code: If the drive or gauge symbols are assigned, they ALWAYS take over the entries for Plant code and Plant unit. In the case of drive symbols, the entry for Aggregate dialogue is also taken over.

Pipeline

When you change the text entry for Plant code, Plant unit, Aggregate, Insertion location, Function or Code, Pipeline number or Pipe class and a pipe part symbol is assigned, it takes over the entries for Plant code and Plant unit, Pipeline number or Pipe class respectively if the appropriate text entry in the data mask is empty or NOT changed during editing.

Editing nominal diameters:

You can only edit nominal diameters if,

  1. a reducer symbol has not been assigned to the pipeline.
  2. a nominal diameter deviating from the currently specified value has not been assigned to pipe part symbols by a part assignment.

If these conditions are fulfilled, the nominal diameter is transferred to all pipe part symbols.

If a reducer symbol is assigned, you need to edit the reducer symbol. An "x" is then displayed in the nominal diameter dialogue of the pipeline symbol.

Pipe part

If you change the text entry for Plant code, Plant unit, Aggregate, Insertion location, Function, Code, Internal consecutive No., Pipeline No. or Pipe class when drive or gauge symbols are assigned, they ALWAYS take over the entries for Plant code and Plant unit. In the case of drive symbols, the entry for Aggregate dialogue is also taken over.

Editing nominal diameters:

The nominal diameter of reducers can only be changed by editing the reducer symbol. The default entry in the nominal diameter dialogue for a reduction symbol with 2 connections is represented by "x", by "xx" for 3 pipe connections and "xxx" for 4 connections. When you edit the symbol, you need to specify a nominal diameter for each pipe connection, whereby the digits must be separated by an 'x'.

Example: A reduction symbol with 3 connections (T-piece): "20x20x10". This represents a nominal diameter of 20 for connection 1 and 2, and a nominal diameter of 10 for connection 3.

Please make sure that sequence in which assignments are specified correspond to the sequence of symbol connection numbers.

The nominal diameter assigned to a connection is automatically transferred to the pipe part symbol of the connected pipeline. Starting at the connection of the current symbol, the pipeline is followed, even over branches and discontinuation symbols, until the end of the line or another reducer is found.

The nominal diameter cannot be edited if the nominal diameter of a pipe part symbol, determined by a part assignment, exists in a connected pipeline deviates from the currently specified value.

Discontinuation symbol

If a code is changed and a matching symbol, i.e. an associated symbol with the same previous code exists, the reference entry for both symbols is deleted. If a matching symbol with the new entry exists, the corresponding references are automatically entered in the data masks.

Title block

If entries for Plant code, Plant unit, Insertion location, or Function have been changed in the Title block symbol data mask, these changes are transferred to the appropriate dialogue of symbols with an entry from the title block symbol or are empty. If Drive or gauge symbols are assigned to symbols influenced by these changes, they always take over the entries for Plant code and Plant unit, entries for other dialogue types are only taken over if no entries exist or they have not been edited.

Pipe connections

Each pipe connection is assigned to a pipe part symbol that is not shown in the graphic. Simply pick the appropriate pipe connection with the cross-hairs to display and edit the symbol data mask.

Gauge symbol

If the symbol is not wide enough to accommodate the required text, the symbol width is automatically adjusted to fit the text. The position of the connecting points and the length of connections are adjusted as far possible.
