Take Over, as Library Symbol

P+ID Library > Symbol > Edit > Take over, as library symbol

Use this function to load a P+ID symbol from the P+ID sheet into the Symbol Editor for processing - as if you had taken the symbol from the symbol library from which it originated, by means of the Load library symbol function. In this case, however, the symbol is taken over in the form in which it appeared in the P+ID, i.e. any changes made to the symbol in the P+ID will be taken over. Proceed as follows:

1. Use the cross-hairs to select the required symbol.

If you had previously edited the sheet, HiCAD will ask whether you want to save it. The sheet will be automatically removed from your screen, but the project remains active. The symbol is passed to the Symbol Editor, and a dialogue box enabling you to edit the symbol data mask appears on your screen. The content of the symbol data mask is identical to that of the data mask belonging to the library symbol from which the symbol was taken.

2. You can now specify a new name for the symbol and make any necessary changes to the data mask and graphic.
3. After finishing the symbol, save it to a symbol library of your choice.
