Display of Degrees of Freedom

Sketch > HCM > Toggle visibility of degrees of freedom /

The Toggle visibility of degrees of freedom function activates or deactivates the display of the degrees of freedom of a parameterized 3-D sketch in your model drawing. Arrows at the graphical elements show you in which way they can still be transformed.

The arrows have the following meaning:

Moveable along 1 axis

At points: This arrow will be displayed for points that can also be moved along 1 axis. The arrow also shows the orientation of this axis in the process; it can not just be shown in vertical and horizontal position, but also at different angles.

At graphical elements: If a graphical element can be moved vertically to its current position (that is, adopt a new position parallel to its previous position), this arrow will appear at the mid point of the respective graphical element.

At circles: This arrow will be displayed on the circular line of a circle, if the radius of the circle can be changed.

Moveable in 2 axes

This arrow is not only displayed for explicitly set, isolated points, but also for implied points such as centre points of circles or end points of lines, if these can be moved along more than just one axis.

However, this does not automatically mean that the point may be moved totally freely - the possibility to move a point can, for instance, be further restricted by fixings or distance constraints.

Rotatable

This arrow on graphical elements indicates that the angle of the line can be changed. The arrow appears at the mid-point of the line element.

Please note that this arrow does not take any centre points of a rotation into account, but will always be shown at the affected graphical element.

Please note:

The degrees of freedom are only shown in the active sketch. Furthermore, the sketch must be displayed big enough on the screen. If you downsize it too much with the Zoom function, the arrows will no longer be visible.
