Project: HiCAD Sheet Metal

Technology Parameters

Sheet Metal > New > Base > Technology parameters

In the Technology data dialogue window, you set the default values for the flanges to be added.

If the Always show window checkbox is activated, the Technology data dialogue window appears each time a flange is added. Otherwise, you use the right mouse button to activate it.

Setting Description

Reference

You can choose to have the length/height of a flange to be applied to the inside or the outside.

Length specification

You can specify the length of the flange in the direction of the new flange or perpendicular to the reference sheet.

Direction

The direction enables you to define the angle at which sheets are attached. The base sheet is used as a reference.

  • Angle to reference flange: The flange is attached at the bend angle entered.
  • Parallel to xy-plane: The flange is attached parallel to the XY-plane. The attachment edge needs to run parallel to the X- or Y-axis of the coordinate system.
  • Perpendicular to XY-plane: The flange is attached perpendicular to the XY-plane.
  • Flush to surface: The flange is placed in the plane of a reference surface.

Fitting mode

The flange can be fitted with or without the reference sheet being shortened. The sheet to which a flange is attached is referred to as the reference sheet.

If you choose With offset to reference sheet, you can add a flange with a defined offset to a reference surface. This changes the process of the Add flange function. Once you have identified the connecting edge, first specify the reference surface and then the reference point. You can specify the reference point in the drawing or use the point options to define it. This changes the length of the flange to which the addition is made.

Length

You specify the length of the flange here. Bear in mind the setting under Length specification.

If you right-click in the input field, you can measure off the length from the drawing.

Bend angle

The bend angle is the angle by which a sheet part is bent

  • from the position of the base sheet or
  • from the position of the sheet part already added.

Enter any angle between 0° and 180°.

If you right-click in the input field, you can measure off the angle from the drawing.

Bend radius

The bend radius lies on the internal side of the bend part. The default setting for the bend radius is 1 mm.

If you right-click in the input field, you can measure off the bend radius from the drawing.

Clearance

Clearance occurs if you add a sheet to the base sheet between 2 points or execute the Close corner function. The default setting is 0.5 mm.

If you right-click in the input field, you can measure off the clearance from the drawing.
