Isolated and Named Points

Isolated point (J)

Isolated point

Isolated points are points which do not need to lie on a drawing object, but can be entered freely in the drawing. They are deployed as aids in construction and can also be used as reference points - also called fitting points -  when transforming parts and graphical elements.

You use the New point function to place isolated points. You can access this function via the 2-D Geometry functions > GE Tools or 3-D Modelling functions > Further point functions toolbars.

The Isolated point option enables you to apply the isolated point closest to the cursor position.

Named point (N)

Named point

Named points are isolated points or start and end points of lines, edges and circular arcs that have been assigned a name. The name of a point is numerical in HiCAD. Numbers from 1 to 9999 are allowed.

Naming points is mainly used for finding important or frequently used points more quickly. For example, this option is particularly suited to identifying auxiliary points in construction drawings and fitting points for inserting parts.

The Named point point option enables you to search for a named point and apply it by entering the name of the point. In contrast to graphic identification of points, which only considers the points in the visible area of the drawing, a point addressed using this option can be sought in the entire drawing.
