Transition Part: Boundary Curves

3-D FFS > Via connection > Transit

Transition pieces can be created for the connection of solids, surfaces or composite edges of a Sketch. In order to create the connection, two boundary curves need to be identified.

Please note the following:

• Composite edges are selected by identification of edges. In this case the checkbox Composite edges needs to be active.
• If the boundary curve is no composite edge, the checkbox Composite edge needs to be inactive. Here the following cases may occur:
• A hyperedge has been created on a surface. In this case the identification of one edge will suffice. After clicking the Supplement cyclically button, HiCAD calculates the boundary curve and offers it for insertion.
• A full curve is located on a surface, e.g. a full circle on a cylinder. Here, the identification of the curve will suffice.
• For solids and other surface parts you select the boundary by identification of two edges. After clicking the Supplement cyclically button, HiCAD calculates the boundary curve and offers it for insertion.

Proceed as follows to select the boundary curve at the start of the transition piece:

1. Click on the Start field at the top of the dialogue or activate the Start option under Identification.
2. Identify the boundary curve, taking the above notes into account. Depending on the type of the identified object, an appropriate ID with the internally assigned curve number will be entered into the field, for example Curve: 365. 

Proceed likewise to determine the boundary curve at the end.

If you want to remove curves from the selection, place the cursor in the Start, respectively End field. Mark the entry you want to delete and delete it, either with the Delete function in the context menu (RMB) or with the DEL key on your keyboard. Multiple selection is also possible, as is customary in Windows.

If you have selected the boundary curves and entered the part name, click OK to proceed to the next dialogue box.

In the next step, it will be necessary to

• determine the synchronisation lines,
• specify the connection constraints,
• determine the treatment of base and top surface (open or closed), and
• determine the tangent lines.
