HELiOS Spooler Admin Tool

All started, currently processed or completed print jobs will be listed in in the window of the HELiOS Spooler Admin Tool, complete with the HELiOS-Document number, File format, User (Login of the user who sent the job to the Spooler). Creation (Date and time of creation of the print job), Execution (Date and time of the actual printing process), Status (New, In process or Completed) and Type.

At the top of the window, beneath Jobs , print jobs marked in the list can be paused , deleted from the list , or started . Paused print jobs will be continued with the latter function, already completed ones will be re-started. Click to refresh (update) the list.

Click to call an error list, in case that not all print jobs could be executed error-free.

If there are no jobs in the list, the functions are greyed out.

Click on to pause the Spooler manually, and on to continue the paused job(s). New jobs will also be accepted while the Spooler is pausing; however they will not be processed during that period - their processing starts as soon as the Spooler is continued again.

Please note:

The control via command prompt can be used for a time-controlled pausing and continuation of the Spooler, e.g. via Windows task planning (with an appropriate batch file).

If you right-click in the list area, a context menu will open, enabling you to remove, pause or start all jobs in the list, or re-start or remove all failed jobs with one mouse click.

Further down you can hide or show the Properties area, where further information on the currently marked print job are shown.

At the bottom of the dialogue window, beneath Properties you can find a toolbar with the following functions:

Stop / start server: Stops or re-starts the server service.

Edit settings... : Calls the HELiOS Spooler Options menu.

Show error log of server: Opens a .log file with error messages.

Show output devices...: Displays all output devices (hardware printers, filewriters etc.) installed on the system in a list.

Calls the Online Help. For this, you require Internet access.

Provides information on the HELiOS Spooler.

Clicking ends the server service and closes the window.

Please note:

If any jobs that have been sent to the HELiOS Spooler cannot be processed, another attempt will be started half an hour later. The concerned jobs will first obtain the status Failed and will then be set to Retry:

If the processing of the job fails again, a third attempt will be made half an hour later. If this attempt is unsuccessful, the job will be deleted. In the meantime, other jobs will be processed.

The clean-up interval and the deletion behaviour in case of failed print jobs can be set in the Server options of the Spooler.
