Plate from Sketch (3-D SE)
Steel Engineering > Plate, new > FromSkt
Plates can be derived from a sketch (existing
in the drawing) in the same way as beams. These can be
- general plates (material S235JRG2 or S355J2G3),
- cold-rolled flat steels according to DIN EN 10131 (material FE P04 AM), or
- bulb plates according to DIN 59220 (hot-rolled plates with patterns)
For these plates, the Catalogue Editor provides appropriate tables (Semi-finished products > Plates) with pre-defined data records. Each record represents a plate with particular dimensions and properties, such as the article number, the plate thickness, the material etc. These tables can be extended arbitrarily by entering further records with the required properties. For this you use the Catalogue Editor.
To insert a sketch plate in HiCAD, proceed as follows:
- Once you have
called the function, select the required table
- Select the dimensions and the material for the plate you want to insert.
- Choose OK to close the dialogue window.
- Identify the
sketch.
- Specify a fitting
point on the sketch and its new position in the drawing. The plate is fitted.
- You can fit several
plates of this type in succession. Press the ESC key or the middle mouse button to end the function.
Sketch and derived plate
Please note:
- You can also use the Plate from sketch (3-D SE) function in the context menu of the sketch for the creation of plates. Please note that if the sketch belongs to an assembly, the plate will also be assigned to this assembly.
- For bulb plates, the item numbering depends on the position of the plate (top/bottom fitting position).
- During identical part search, bulb plates are treated like gratings, i.e. geometrical equality is only given in one defined direction perpendicular to the plane of the bulbs). If in the Steel Engineering Settings the representation for gratings is set to "exact", appropriate symbols for the bulbs are displayed on the upper surface of the plate. You can hide or show these bulb symbols via the Representation, Change..., (Exact<->Simplified) function.
