Bracing with Round Steel (3-D SE)

"Civil Engineering" docking window > Steel Engineering > Macros > Bracing with round steel

This function enables you to connect beams by means of a cross-bracing or a diagonal cross-beam made of round steel. You define the options and parameters for the bracing in the Bracing set dialogue window.

Options and Parameters

Determines whether the reinforcement bracing is fitted as one diagonal or as a cross-bracing in your drawing.

Determines whether the connection is created with one or two bolts.

Determines whether fitting is performed automatically at the beam end or by specifying fitting points.

Method for determining the fitting points (if the Via fitting points option is active):

  • Exact points: You specify the points explicitly during fitting.
  • Projection onto beam: The entered points are projected onto the beam.

If the fitting is to be performed between two transoms, activate the relevant checkbox. In this case, a cross-bracing or a diagonal is automatically fitted, depending on choice.

  • Distance from the beam end
  • Distance from the central axis
(determines the fitting point of the plate)
  • Length of the turnbuckle
(is specified as a percentage of the length (1) of the cross-beam)
  • Gusset plate thickness (2), connecting plate thickness (3), connecting plate height (4)
  • Weld seam length (5)
  • Diameter of the round steel (6)
  • Bolt diameter (7)

Proceed as follows:

  1. Choose the desired options and enter the required parameters.
  2. Choose OK to exit the window .
  3. Identify the two opposite columns, in turn, between which you want the bracing to be fitted. Note the identification position in so doing!
  4. If you have selected option 1 diagonal, you will need to make further specifications:

Left: Fitting a cross-bracing to the beam ends, Right: Diagonal
(1) + (2) Identified columns, (3) Fitting point of the gusset plate, (4) Connecting side of the gusset plate
