Feature Technology is active during designing in Steel Engineering, i.e. the construction step is recorded as a feature log in many cases. During construction, the state of this feature log has no influence on the dialogue or the construction process with HiCAD.
Feature log creation is performed in relation to parts, i.e. whenever a part is created, a corresponding feature log entry is generated for this part. If the part is edited, the feature log is automatically adjusted. You can display the feature log belonging to a part in the ICN under the Feature tab.
One advantage of feature technology resides in the fact that it is also easy to change construction steps which lie further back in the construction process without having to perform the steps that followed once again.
Example of a feature log
You can also frequently make changes to steel engineering objects directly via the feature log. For example, you can use feature technology to exchange beams, pipes etc. or change the representation type of the beams and much more.
HiCAD feature technology also enables design variants to be derived quickly and easily. Construction sequences that have already been carried out, be that for part creation or part processing, can also be used at any time in other constructions. The required processing is automatically adapted to the fitting situation in question - even on non-parametric parts - and can then be extended as required. This combination of free and parametric 3-D construction opens up new perspectives in product development.
To create Design Variants for Steel Engineering, use the Variants function group on the Steel Engineering tab.
