Interfaces
Links created between different software products or hardware components are called Interfaces.
The number and quality of interfaces available to HiCAD users
allows a lossless transfer and re-use of data, as well
as an exchange of data with customers and suppliers. Available are interfaces for standard formats (DXF, STEP...) and native formats (ME10, AutoCAD, CATIA, Pro/E, Parasolid, ACIS...).
Please note:
- Individual interfaces can be licensed as separate HiCAD modules, e.g. as part of an industry suite.
- Data exchange between
different systems is only possible if data is suitably formatted and transferred
via a valid data link using an appropriate protocol
or interface. The link between diverse hardware and software is referred
to as an interface.
- Select Drawing > Others > Extras > Temporary settings > Save ICN display On/Off to specify whether HiCAD should also output ICN attributes (e.g. the HELiOS part name if you use the HELiOS database).
- You can speed up the conversion of files using suitable macros. For this you require the Design Automation module.
- When importing foreign data to 3-D formats that are internally converted via the CADfix interface (DXF,DWG, SolidWorks, Inventor etc.) the file to be imported might exist in a version that cannot be processed by CADfix yet. In such cases HiCAD will stop the conversion and show the following message:
Please note:
An overview of all interfaces with additional information (e.g. supported versions etc.) can be found online in the ISD-Wiki at Product know-how / FAQ/ FAQ - Frequently asked questions.
