Set Target for Data Save (P+ID)

When you install HiCAD from the CD, HiCAD’s P+ID module is initially setup for local use on respective workstations, i.e. projects, libraries and modules are saved on the same drive as HiCAD to the HiCAD sub-directory \PID.

Let us assume that HiCAD has been installed on drive C, and that P+ID Schema data is saved to drive F. Proceed as follows:

As default directories for the R&I Schemas are contained in the rows 7, 8 and 9 at the end of the FILEGRUP.DAT file in HiCAD’s exe sub-directory:

7:c:\HICAD\PID\MODULES

8:c:\HICAD\PID\PROJECTS

9:c:\HICAD\PID\LIBS

  1. You need to replace drive C by drive F.
  2. Create the directory \HICAD\PID on drive F.

Copy the sub-directories LIBS, MODULES and PROJECTS with their entire contents from C\HICAD\PID to F\HICAD\PID.

Important:

Great care should be taken when changing the directory structure!

The location of the directory PID and its sub-directories \ADMIN und \WORK (in our example on drive C) is linked by default to the location of the direc-tory entered in FILEGRUP.DAT file with the identifier Z:

Z:C:\HICAD\SYS

If, for example you move directory SYS to HICAD\V1202, it must be assigned to Z as follows:

Z:C:\HICAD\V1202\SYS

You then need to move directory PID to \HICAD\V1202, otherwise it can no longer be found.

In exceptional circumstances you can remove this dependency. In this case, an additional file group identifier is required for HiCAD’s P+ID in the FILEGRUP.DAT file.

  1. Find a line with one of the identifiers F, G, H or I in which the path C:\HICAD\SZENEN is currently entered.

Let us assume that this is G.

  1. Overwrite the entry for G with the complete directory path ADMIN
    G:C:\HICAD\PID\ADMIN
  2. Enter G as the fourth character following 789 in the ELDIRS.DAT file (in \HICAD\SYS):
    789G

This procedure enables you to store the administration directory on an optional drive, only the work directory needs to be stored on the same drive as the HiCAD system directory (...\SYS).

Please remember: During HiCAD installation the directory names specified by HiCAD should always be used, not hicad.
