In many cases, an object cannot be moved freely, but only rotated about an axis, with the movement of the cursor not being translated into a rotation movement. This was the reason for introducing the Rotate function in the Dragger menu. This function evaluates only the y-position, i.e. only the vertical position of the cursor. If you move the cursor from the top border of the screen to the bottom border, the object is rotated precisely once about the set rotation axis.
The Drag Plane/Rotation axis functions enable you to define the rotation axis.
Note that the rotation axis is saved based on its position, i.e. the reference to a selected edge is lost if the edge moves.
If you do not define a different rotation axis, the x-axis of the drawing coordinate system is the default setting for the rotation axis.
Selection of the Drag plane is only relevant in connection with the Drag using the mouse function (or the stylus). The moved objects are located in 3-D space while the cursor movements are only two-dimensional. These cursor movements therefore need to be transferred to a plane in space for the dragger. Selecting the dragger plane translates the movements of the cursor into movements of the objects in space.
Note: The default setting is the Screen plane, which means that the objects follow the movements of the cursor.
If you want the active local coordinate system to be regarded as the reference coordinate system, instead of the screen, choose one of the functions of the context menu:
