Plant Engineering and Pipeline Isometry
Today design engineers have to deal with increasingly difficult design tasks for more and more complex technical plants. And the more complex the plant, the more difficult is the creation of the corresponding layout and pipeline plans. This also applies to fields such as logistics, chemical engineering or food processing. This complexity underlines the advantages of working with 3-D CAD systems.
HiCAD Plant Engineering can be regarded as a supplement to HiCAD 3-D. This module contains functions for the planning, design, and realisation of technical plants. These functions in conjunction with appropriate automatic processes support these tasks. The maximum functional scope of this industry solution can be achieved by linking the integrated database to the HELiOS PDM system.
- Special functions
Special functions for all phases of pipeline planning and installation are available as well as procedures for the automatic generation of isometric pipeline drawings.
- Automatisms
Many automatic procedures are available to accelerate and support design tasks. These include the automatic placing of pipes and elbows on guidelines with respect to pipe classes. If necessary, pipes/tubes are automatically cut, e.g. to enable fittings or valves to be inserted. Additionally, if the nominal diameter of a fitted pipeline is changed HiCAD automatically rebuilds it using parts with the new nominal diameter.
HiCAD next enables you to generate Bills of Materials (BOMs) including accessories, as quantity lists or structure lists at the push a button. HiCAD derives pipe isometries from 3-D representations, while a wide range of tools are available for part processing.
- Variant Editor
With HiCAD’s integrated Variant Editor you can derive a large number of part forms. A particularly wide spectrum of part variants can be derived from structured basic variants, e.g. as in Plant Engineering for fittings.
- All benefits of 3-D
The created plant design is visualised as a 3-D model in HiCAD, providing a photo-realistic impression of the finished design. This enables you to evaluate prototypes at very early design stages and check their correct functioning. By this means, error rates can be minimised, product quality improved and production costs reduced.
- P+ID
The HiCAD P+ID (Pipelines & Instrumentation) module is an ideal enhancement of the Plant Engineering module. P+ID functions allow a swift and simple creation of structured flow diagrams and detailed representations for plant designs.
