Projection Grid (3-D)

Processing plane > Projection grid

You can use a so-called "projection grid" as a construction aid in the active processing plane. Corresponding grid settings then make it very easy for you to create contours the points of which lie on the grid points without additional value input.

If HiCAD requests a point specification while the projection grid is activated, you can directly apply the nearest grid point by freely typingthe cursor. The Autopilot is not allowed to display a snap point here. This enables you to quickly create objects like contours for extruded solids, bores etc., the points of which have "smooth" coordinates by always pressing the left mouse button near the relevant grid point. As an orientation aid, every tenth grid line is drawn more thickly.

If the projection grid is visible, the display of the grid is adjusted accordingly for view changes such as view switch, rotation, area change etc. or for changes of the active processing plane.

Display types of the projection grid (lines, points, pixels)

Proceed as follows:

  1. Activate the Projection grid function. The Projection grid dialogue window is displayed. Here, you can make the settings required for a projection grid:
  2. activate and deactivate the grid,
  3. transfer the grid jump from (0.0) to any point,
  4. set the spacing of the grid lines in x- and y-direction,
  5. set the angle of the x- and y-axis of the grid to the x-axis of the current coordinate system,
  6. set whether the grid also remains activated in 3-D or is only activated when a hole figure is created during sketching or such like,
  7. make the grid visible or invisible,
  8. place the grid in front of behind the drawing,
  9. change the grid display. All changes to colour, line type, display type, angle and "In front of/behind drawing" are displayed in the preview window.
  1. Make the desired settings for the grid properties and the grid display.
  2. Check your settings in the preview.
  3. If required, make further changes.
  4. Click OK to exit the window.
