Subtract, with Translation + Depth (3-D)

3-D Standard > Process with sketch > SubtTra > Subtract part, with translation + depth

Like holes, subtractions are also based on a sketch. However, the sketch only penetrates the 3-D part in a certain depth. The part that is created is the difference between the active 3-D part and the extruded solid derived from the sketch.

Proceed as follows:

  1. Activate the Subtract tab.
  2. Select Subtract, with translation + depth as cross-section motion.
  3. Activate the Include sub-parts checkbox if you want the sub-parts of the active part to be taken into account for the subtraction.
  4. Make the settings for the translation. If you want the part to be created with form-inclination, enter the angle of inclination. The position of the form-inclination is influenced by the plus/minus sign. Choose the type of height determination and enter any values required.
  5. If you want to use an already existing sketch, click the Select sketch button and identify the sketch.
To create a new sketch, click the New sketch button. HiCAD displays the Sketch tab. Create the desired sketch.
  6. Define the other options by activating/deactivating the checkboxes.
  7. Click the Preview button to display the result. With dynamic determination of the subtraction, use the cursor to define its depth. Drag the cursor to the desired position and then press the left mouse button (RET). The subtraction depth is then displayed for you to apply or correct.
  8. Click Apply if you want to apply the subtraction as displayed in the preview.

The direction in which subtractions and additions are applied depends on the current sketch plane.
