Divide (2-D)

2-D Geometry > Change > Trim > Divide...

If you divide a line, nothing changes in terms of the geometry. However, you can assign other attributes to areas of the original graphic element. You can use the point options to identify the start and end points of a partial line and the Move points function to move them. In this way, you can create a new contour.

Description

Examples

This function enables you to divide a graphical element into several sections by inserting points. To do this, identify the graphical element and specify the points to be inserted. Use the point options to specify the points.

You can also divide graphical elements automatically into equal sections. To do this, identify the graphical element and enter the number of segments (max. 100).

If you identify a line, the individual division points are automatically inserted. If you identify a circle, HiCAD prompts you for another start point. Then you specify whether the segments remain arcs or are converted into lines. 6 segments would thus give rise to a hexagon.

Identifying the intersection points cuts graphical elements into individual sections. The sections can be activated individually.

You use this function to divide a polyline by specifying the length of the segments.

  1. First identify the start point of the polyline.
  2. Then enter the length of the segments.

If the polyline cannot be divided exactly by means of the length, the last segment is smaller.

Polylines can also be divided into equal sections automatically. To do this, identify the polyline and enter the number of segments (max. 100).

This function divides the identified contour at intersection points with other contours.

This function divides all contours that have intersection points in common with the identified contour at the intersections.

You use this function to generate the minimum contour of any intersecting graphical elements. Once the first line has been identified, HiCAD automatically finds the connection points and cuts there. The lines that are no longer required can then be deleted. You use the Merge polyline function to connect the new contour.
