Link Columns to Part Attributes

Link catalogue attribute to HiCAD attribute

When inserting standard parts and semi-finished products (beams and plates) from the catalogues in HiCAD, the values from the catalogue items will be directly assigned to various attributes. An example is the designation BZ, which is taken over as the part attribute Ref. No.

This assignment is freely configurable, i.e. you have the option to link table columns to other part attributes. If a part from this table is inserted, the value of the column linked with the relevant part attribute will be taken over. You can, for example, enter an article number and/or the supplier in one column and link them to an attribute. By this means, the value will be taken over when inserting the part and can thus be used for part annotations or Bills of Materials (BOMs).

Such links of columns to attributes can directly be created when inserting columns or when processing columns with the Column properties function.

  1. in the dialogue window, activate the HiCAD checkbox in the Link attributes area.
  2. In the list box, select the required part attribute. Only attributes matching the data type in the current columns are offered for selection.
  3. Exit the window with OK.
  4. Save the table.

In the heading of the relevant table column, the indicates that the column is linked to an attribute. Furthermore, an appropriate information is displayed as tool tip when you move the cursor over the column heading.

If a column is already linked to an attribute, no further column can be linked to this attribute.

All HiCAD tables for standard parts and semi-finished products from older HiCAD versions (< HiCAD neXt 2008) will be converted during the update in such a way that

Example

Link catalogue attribute to HELiOS attribute

As with the HiCAD attributes, you can assign attributes of the HELiOS Part Master Management to the catalogue attributes (table columns). You can, for instance, display the Article No. in the catalogue as well by specifying an appropriate assignment (link).

Such links of columns with attributes can be specified directly when inserting new columns or when processing columns with the Column properties function.

  1. In the dialogue window, activate the HELiOS checkbox in the Link attributes area.
  2. Select the required article attribute from the listbox. You can only select attributes of the same data type as the current column.
  3. Confirm with OK.
  4. Save the table.

In the heading of the corresponding table column the indicates that the column is linked to an attribute. In addition, an appropriate tooltip appears when you move the cursor over the column heading.

If a column is already linked to an attribute, no further column of the table can be linked to this attribute!
